Well here we are in our new house it has been three weeks of chaos with lots of memories made. Dan started at Vanderbilt. We are still not moved in. It has not been all work. We have taken some time to play. My brother Chad had us over to his house for the 24th of July and my nieces 1 year old birthday. It was nice to get away from the moving mess here for a while. We have gone to church at our new branch. Dan was automatically made the ward organist. They had been using an ipod for accompaniment in sacrament meeting. It is nice to feel needed right away.
This is a picture of our first night in our new house. We killed lots of spiders before they slept on the floor.
The next day my parents came with our stuff. Once again I ask myself "Why do we have so much stuff?" The family room is getting cleared out a little more now. We even got a couch in there from a nice family moving to California and they didn't want to bring too much stuff. I know what that is like. We got rid of so much but now I want even less. I plan to simplify my life with less clutter. I just have to find a goodwill store because I can't bear to just trash my stuff.
Jordan got to try out his Bumbo chair. He is still a little floppy for it. I don't think it is meant for sleeping but he was comfy so we let him. He has grown so much. It is amazing how fast he has changed from a sleepy new born into a always hungry growing baby.
Max and Amelia are great help. Although sometimes their help is not what Jordan wants. Amelia likes to pose him like a doll. This is her trying to get a good picture of him in a box.
Most of the time they are very good with him. This is Max putting Jordan down for a nap.
This is our kitchen. The old couple that lived here just patched and patched this floor rather than replace the whole thing. The wood panneling, dark floor, and poor lighting just make this room dark. I plan to lighten it up. I welcome all suggestions. Should I keep the panneling? Paint it or junk it? The floor has got to go. The computer didn't stay in this room either. Dan was too worried about someone spraying food across the room onto it. Now we have it in the front room but since it is also our TV that seems to fit.
Moving is hard but we are still smiling. This is the first picture we got of Jordan's smile. Amelia took this picture. Most of the pictures in this post were taken by her or Max. I am too busy to think about taking pictures. The kids love to take pictures and sometimes they even get really good ones.
We bought an older home 1969 and I think we have mostly original everything. We had to replace the HVAC unit. I have never experienced heat and humidity like this before. If our kind neighbors hadn't lent us fans we would have died. All I could do was sit under a fan all day. I sent the kids out to play in the water. They made a swimming pool out of boxes and a drop cloth. At least they can make some fun. I had to stay dry and meet all the companies coming to give us bids on new systems.
Dan is quite handy with do it yourself projects. Thanks to google and his skill he took out our leaking disposal and an old water filter under the kitchen sink. Then he put in drain pipes and a new faucet. He also fixed our phone lines under the house. That fix would have cost us $150+ from the phone company. Now our connection is a lot faster. All this time I thought it was because we got the cheaper internet with slower download times.
