We took our time driving to our new house. Here are some places we visited on the way.
Then we drove to Lincoln NE. We had made a reservation at a Motel 6 before. Dan wanted a place close to the freeway so we could go right to it. It was such a yuckky place! Their was a lingere shop next door, a train track ran right next to it, and it smelled like smoke. Shauna's first comment was, "I wanted bunkbeds!" She thought this was her new bedroom in TN!
We stoped at Keosauqua, Iowa. The little town where my mom was born. She remembers when they put the blue slide in.

The midwest has had lots of rain this year. The mud puddles made swinging more fun. You can see the Des Moines river in the background.

We toured lots of the old buildings. This sister was great with the kids.

Awesome old school playground!
The view from the top. Dan is holding Jordan so I could play.
Nauvoo was the highlight of the whole trip. Dan and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. Shauna was getting tired of the wagon ride.
This is how Jordan saw Nauvoo.
We stayed at the pioneer games for a long time. This was our kids favorite spot.
Dan always wanted to be taller. Before the pagent we played lots of pioneer games.
Shauna was falling a sleep at dinner. I guess she had a full day.
This china is in the home of Lucy Mack Smith (Mother of Joseph Smith). It was given to her by her sister in law Mary Smith (not to be confused with Mary Fielding Smith). She was married to Silas Smith (uncle to Joseph Smith and Brother to Joseph Smith Sr.) who is my great-great-great-great grandfather. Yes, that makes me a first cousin to Joseph Smith 4x removed. That is some of my family history from Nauvoo.
Our family in front of the mighty Mississippi River.
A nice relaxing bath after a long day touring Nauvoo.
The next day we had to hit the road again.
Shauna, Amelia and Max were happy in the back seat with their movies. Some good friends of ours gave us a portable DVD player just before we left. Maybe Jordan was sad because he couldn't see the movie.
