I Don't Want Summer to End!

Summer is nearly done and I haven't blogged very much because I am too busy having fun. I love Utah summers. They are just perfect. When it is too hot you have the mountains and reservoirs. When it rains you get some amazing electrical storms with beautiful rainbows at the end. I love all the seasons but none of them beat a Utah summer. Here are some of our fun summer activities:
We were at a kid fair and the face painting cost $5! I thought I could do a lot better for a lot less. So I said no at the fair and had a fun evening at home. I don't have real face paint. I just used washable kid paint so after about 10 minutes it was cracked and crumbling off. The flower garden face was all Amelia's idea. I think it turned out really pretty on her! If I bought real costume make-up I could do this for Halloween.
I just love a toothless grin! She looks so cute with both front teeth out. She lost one while going down a slide. I tied dental floss around her tooth and held the end of it while she slid down the slide. A very unique way to loose a tooth! She lost the other in at school a few days later. Every once in a while when it gets a little too quiet around our house. I look around and ask,"Has anyone seen Shauna?" Then I know she is up to something. I found her on the counter in the bathroom putting on my make-up! She put lipstick all over her cheeks with smudges of mascara. This is the 12hr. lipstick and waterproof mascara. It took some scrubbing with baby oil to get it off.
Shauna and her cousin enjoying Liberty Park's 7 canyons. One of the many summer-only activities we will miss. Max and Amelia had to be in school. So they missed the fun this time. We hiked to Timpanogos Cave over the summer. I did not take very many pictures. This one was with my cell phone. It was hard enough just to make sure no kids walked off the edge and fell down the cliffs. The kids loved it. Amelia is very interested in Geology. Shauna kept touching formations. The ranger got after us a few times. I really did try to explain to her not to touch but you can't reason with a bored, tired and hungry toddler.
About half way through the cave both Amelia and Max had to go to the bathroom really bad. If you ever hike timp cave with your kids insist that they use the stinky out house on the way up! Our kids had to go so bad they were crying at the end of the tour. Luckily we had a nice ranger show us the secret rangers only restroom after we got out of the cave. We would have had to hike about a quarter mile back up to the entrance to the out house. 1st day of school in the middle of the summer. Year round is great but I just couldn't get into the school feeling at the end of July when they went back. I don't think they were in the school mode yet either. You can tell by the silly picture.

Amelia looks so much like you in that first picture! The summer sounded like a blast, except for the schooling part. And great job on the face painting.
Your kids are so cute and very lucky because you always did know how to make things fun.
