Time flies on wings of lightning;
We cannot call it back.
It comes, then passes forward
Along its onward track.
And if we are not mindful,
The chance will fade away,
For life is quick in passing.
’Tis as a single day.
(“Improve the Shining Moments,” Hymns, no. 226)
The words to this hymn go a long with my thoughts as of late. Grandma Carol (Dan's Grandma that we live with) is fast approching 80. What do I want to look back on when I am 80? How clean I kept my house? How much time I spent on our computer? How much movies/TV I've watched? Certianly not! The most important thing to me is my relationship with my family. When I am 80 I hope I can look back on my life and feel a sense of accomplishment in the kind of daughter (of God and my parents), wife, mother and grandmother I was. Even still I find myself spending more time on the less important things. So this year I am going to try to spend most of my time on being a good daughter, wife, and mother. I know there is a lot of other very important things I need to spend my time on but when most of my life is behind me I don't want to have regrets about my family relationships.
I really don't mean this blog to be all serious and thought provoking. Here are some pictures into how our lives have been going since the move:

Christmas at Grandma Carol's

Family Bowling Activity
Shauna is about to push the bowling ball down the ramp.
Amelia, Max and Shauna used the bumpers. I finally beat Dan at bowling (by one point). Amelia is the only one who scored over 100. Max threw the 6 lb. ball like it was a baseball and still managed to beat me. Dan and I both had the lowest scores of the game. It was such a great evening Dan didn't want to stop at bowling so we went to take the kids to a movie.
Our plan was to take them to see Despereaux. It wasn't playing so Dan chose a PG movie called "Marley and Me." It looked like a fun little dog movie for families. He had seen the preview and going off of that it seemed just fine for kids. We were so wrong! It was not for kids at all. I'm sure I would have enjoyed watching it without the kids. I finally dragged everyone out of the theater after the 2nd inappropriate for kids scene. I later found out it has a really sad ending so I'm glad we didn't stay. Our movie theater days have come to an abrupt end!

Sledding with Cousins and Grandma and Grandpa I
We went sledding at Mt. Dell Golf Course. Anyone who's been here knows about the long hill that seems to keep going for a mile. The kids would zip down the hill and wouldn't get back up to the top for a half hour. The kids were getting kind of sick of climbing up the hill all alone with me at the top. Near the end we took the big sled and put all of us (me and the kids - Dan was at work) on together. Then I could pull Shauna back up on the sled and be with the kids while the climbed back up the long hill. It was a great work out!

Max on the Climbing wall

Amelia almost at the top
Maybe it was because of the inversion in the valley. Running outside right now can give you lung cancer! But something prompted us to get a gym membership. Not just any gym membership but the best one avaliable. It is called lifetime fitness and as you can see it has a climbing wall. It also has an indoor and out door pool complete with waterslides. It has so many activities for kids I can't keep them all straight. The kids place is really cool but it can be crazy durring peak times. I don't really like leaving the kids with strangers either. I went into the kids place and played with them last time. Most of the activities we have done so far are the ones we can do together. Shauna had to sit and play with me at the bottom while the kids climbed. They are very family friendly as far as gyms go. I think that is what finally convinced us to go with a membership for a while. If anyone wants to join us for a swim or climbing session we have lots of buddy passes.
I hope you are all enjoying your time and using it wisely. When the moment is gone, it's gone. Nothing can bring it back. I'm sure I look like I am the perfect mom/wife on this blog but people who know me well can tell you that isn't so. So I'll keep trying!
